365 Day Challenge
In September 2023 I began my 365 day challenge, where I illustrated and posted every day for a year.
Having previously completed this challenge in 2021, I set out to draw every day for another year. What blossomed was the cementation my illustrative style. Although the majority of my daily illustrations were created in Procreate, this style has seeped into all attempted medias including work in printmaking, silversmithing, painting, animation, etc.
Throughout the year I began experimenting with involving my style into brands that I liked. This transformed into the majority of my work aimed at potential future clients and helped build a professional portfolio that landed me multiple freelance opportunities while completing my Illustration Masters course in the UK.
This daily practice also allowed me to process my solo move from my small city in Idaho, to London, where everything felt different. I used the 365 day challenge as a way to understand these differences and feel more secure in them
The intense commitment of drawing every day for a year had its frustrating moments but paid off in many ways. This illustration in particular was awarded multiple times, once through acceptance into the Atelier Beside the Sea Gallery in Brighton, and again through New Designers 2024.
Here are a few favorites from the series. The entire 365 collection can be found on my Instagram, @brofoz.
